Who we are…
Oxford Wheel Repairs is a fairly new business, starting in 2015 as the sister company of Oxford Crash Repairs. Although Oxford Crash Repairs closed down after 16 years of trading in January 2017, Oxford Wheel Repairs continues to thrive and grow.
Oxford Wheel Repairs’ founder and owner is Douglas Ligertwood who grew up locally and has been working on cars for as long as he can remember. After years and years of bodywork, specialist welding and spraying, Doug decided to venture into the world of wheels and hasn’t looked back since. Training, hard work, and determination went into Dougs decision to become a wheel specialist and he’s quickly made a name for himself around Oxford as just that!
When it comes to wheels there’s very little that Doug can’t do and somehow he’s found the time to train up a team of employees to be skilled and knowledgeable on all things wheels.
Douglas Ligertwood is the Managing Director of Oxford Wheel Repairs. He started the business in 2015. Although Doug has been painting, welding and straightening wheels for years it was in 2015 he decided to purchase firstly a dedicated wheel straightening machine, followed a few months later by a CNC lathe equipped with diamond cutting tooling. In the last 2 years Doug has had around 3 hours of sleep total, and continues to do the work of about 4 people on a daily basis.
Esther joined the Oxford Wheel Repairs team in the summer of 2016, and as the only female member of staff, she enjoys bossing the boys around. After a few years of retail management experience, Esther came in as Assistant Manager to organize and get things running smoothly, and although no-one likes to admit it, she’s the real boss!
Other than Doug, we have a few guys working on the wheel team.
Ricky has been with Oxford Wheel repairs since the beginning and is our diamond cutting specialist. An amazing artist, Ricky also finds the time to run his own sideline business custom painting everything from ice hockey helmets to classic mini bootlids.
Nick joined us in the summer of 2017 having run his own powder coating business for a few years. He brought with him lots of experience in all areas and a general handiness when it comes to anything car related.
Jordan is the youngest of the team, but what he lacks in experience he makes up for in hard work. He’s a fast learner and has become absolutely irreplaceable in a short amount of time.
Despite the close of Oxford Crash Repairs in January 2017, Bert stayed with us to continue bodywork.
With us for more than a decade, Bert not only looks like, but is in reality the wizard of metal and we’ve yet to find a crash that he can’t fix!
Milan is our master of paint work and can easily turn a bare panel into a work of art.
