Diamond Cutting

Diamond Cutting Process

With not many machines around, we are very proud to offer competitively priced, professional diamond cutting, here at Oxford Wheel Repairs.

Wheels that come to us to be diamond cut go through a similar process to the ones that are just being refurbished.

First the wheels are stripped and vapour blasted. This removes all paint as well as any dirt so that they can be thoroughly checked for damage or defects.

Then the wheels are ready for the primer that protects the alloy as well as helping to prevent rust and corrosion. The wheels are then painted or powder coated to whatever colour you want them to go.

Once the colour layer is baked and dry, it’s time to get the wheels into the diamond cutting machine. The lathe takes one wheel at a time so it is a slow and specialized process to get each wheel looking perfect.

The diamond cutting tip that the lathe uses passes slowly over the spinning face of the wheel cutting millimeters from the face of the wheel, leaving it shiny and bright.

Once the wheels have been cut they then return to the powder booth to get lacquered and baked to protect the brand new surface of the wheel. Tyres are refitted and balanced and then the wheels are ready to go.

Diamond cutting your wheels can be the new lease of life your car needs. It gives a distinct, smart, and attractive look to your car that is hard to achieve in other ways.
